Most people don't realize the power they truly have over their thought life. They also don't realize that a single thought can lead to their ultimate joy or pain.
In this episode, I am offering suggestions for practicing having thoughts that work for us and not against us. In this episode, I share my experience after learning that my husband of over twenty years was a drug addict. My sole mission became to protect and shield my children from the ugliness that addiction brings with it. I filed for divorce and a court order to have him removed from the home. It was one of the toughest things I've ever had to do.
To families of addicts: Hold on to hope. By the grace of God, my husband found recovery and now uses his experience to encourage and support others in addiction.
There are support groups for families of addicts, such as Al Anon and Nar Anon who will support and guide you during this painful journey.
The verse that I held on to during this time was Philippians 4:6-7

For thirty years, my husband struggled with drug and alcohol abuse and addiction. After silently dealing with war-related PTSD for several years and medically retiring from his job in law enforcement in 2015, his drug use hit an all time high.
Unable to slow down his drug use, his life quickly spiraled downward until he nearly lost his family, hope, and life itself.
By the grace of God, he survived the battle and today, he shares his story with us.

The next time you have to make a u turn back home because you forgot something, be grateful it wasn't a 20 hour u turn like mine!
Ten hours into a 33 hour drive, my daughter informed me that her move in date was actually a few weeks later!
Instead of letting her have it for not communicating properly regarding this BIG move, I decided we were going to make a fun adventure out of the mishap and that's exactly what we did!
Tune in as I share all about the lessons and reflections of this brief road trip.
Lesson: Make the absolute best out of any situation gone wrong. When you do, things will always work out.
